The following is a list of events going on in and around Polk County today, Sept. 11:

1. The Cedartown Senior Citizen Nutrition Center located next to Burt Wood Park has activities Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Seniors 55 and older may participate in activites. Seniors 60 and older may participate in activities as well as nutritional meals and trips.

2. The Cedartown Fire Department will be honoring those who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001. This year’s ceremony will be held at The Cedartown Fire Department on Tuesday, Sept. 11, starting at 8:45 a.m. The service will have a bagpipe performance. Complete details were still being settled this week and are to be announced in next week’s paper. Questions can be addressed to Cedartown Fire Chief Sammy Stephens at 770-748-1112.

3. Tallatoona Head Start will hold a 9/11 ceremony on Price Station Road at 10 a.m.

4. The Polk School District Board of Education will hold a regular session meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 11 at 6:30 p.m. at the central office.
