Now that sewer and water lines have been replaced throughout the Goodyear Village neighborhood of Rockmart, work has begun to repair the roads.

The old concrete lines -- replaced now with PVC -- were located under Lane, Wingfoot and Clearwater streets. Trenches were dug through the pavement, then refilled with dirt and covered with gravel.

Wednesday, work began to repair the roads and prepare them for repaving. As part of that process, the contractor is also milling the roads -- grinding off several layers of asphalt left from multiple years of repaving projects.

The milling was mostly completed on Clearwater and Wingfoot streets Thursday. Milling work is expected to continue on Lane Street today.

Once the milling work is done, repaving will begin. That process is expected to be completed next week.

Residents of those streets are reminded to park their cars off the streets in order to keep the work area clear for heavy machinery. Cars left parked on the street are subject to being towed.

Notification was hand delivered to each address earlier this week and left taped to front doors of each home in the neighborhood.

This article was printed two months ago, and paving was said to be completed next week. I have tried to be patient, but since last fall we've had a terrible mess, with no completion in site. Our cars have stayed filthy, front ends out of alighnment and nowhere to park, except our backyards, which are now becoming mud holes. I know the weather has not co-oprerated. I think the only thing left to do is call media and show the world what our tax dollars are not doing.

Please correct this to read WINGFOOT Street. It is NOT Wingfield. ALL villages I've ever seen that were built by Goodyear have a Wingfoot Street, since their symbol is a winged foot. I appreciate it and I know my neighbors living here in the Rockmart Goodyear Village would appreciate it also. Thank you.
