Two people were arrested by Polk County police on charges of street racing on Highway 113 near Rockmart, according to reports.

Halie Brieanna Dover, 17, of Cartersville, and Joshua Reece Taff, 21, of Taylorsville, were both charged with street racing, speeding and reckless driving after an Aug. 2 incident, reports state.

Both have been released on a property bond.

Polk County police noticed two vehicles traveling at high speeds down Highway 113 that evening, according to reports.

The officer noticed that a black Dodge truck and a black Infinity were side by side and increasing their speed. The officer reported that he attempted to stop the vehicles. The Infinity pulled over and the truck continued down 113, reports stated.

Dover was driving the Infinity, according to reports.

The officer asked Dover where she was headed and she replied that she was going to El Nopal.

Another officer located the Dodge truck, driven by Taff, in El Nopal’s parking lot, reports said.

The officer observing the racing cars arrived at El Nopal to question Taff.

Taff told him he was racing because the other car was “a car of girls,” according to police reports.

Both vehicles were released to their friends while Dover and Taff were taken to the Polk County Jail.
