BRUNSWICK, GA. — A jury has convicted a man of beating and killing a 17-month-old child near Georgia's coast in 2009.

The Brunswick News reports that a Glynn County Superior Court jury on Thursday convicted 35-year-old Daryl Jones of beating and killing Brianna Hester.

Judge Anthony Harrison sentenced him to life in prison.

Authorities said the child's mother, Kimberly Hester, had been romantically involved and living with Jones when the child was killed. Police arrested Jones four days after paramedics found Brianna bruised and unresponsive April 30, 2009, on the living room floor of the apartment complex where the couple lived.
