The following is a list of events going on in and around Polk County today, Aug. 14:

1. The Cedartown Senior Citizen Nutrition Center located next to Burt Wood Park has activities Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Seniors 55 and older may participate in activites. Seniors 60 and older may participate in activities as well as nutritional meals and trips.

2. Cedartown High School will sell Freshmen lockers today from noon to 1 p.m.

3. The Polk School Distrct Board of Education will meet in regular session on Tuesday, Aug. 14 at 6:30 p.m. at the central office.

4. Haven, a support group for women, meets each Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the auditorium of the Cedartown Housing Authority, 344 West Ave. A group discusses such issues as domestic violence, sexual assault and addictions among other topics. The group is described as a place where women can safely talk about any problem or issue they may be having. For more information, contact 770-748-6633 or 770-748-2300.
