Cedartown opened the World Series in Southaven, Miss. by participating in Pool G with Northpoint Americans, Sandy Plains Cougars Blue and the Goodlettsville Super Sevens.
The Core lost to the Goodlettsville Super Sevens in the round robin opener 15-7, but bounced back to beat the Sandy Plains Cougars Blue 18-10 and the Northpoint Americans 15-0.
With a 2-1 mark, the Core advanced to the next level. Playing in Bracket A-4, the Cedartown team lost to the Rome Rivercats 9-2 before downing the Grenada Sting 19-11 to set up a rematch with the Rome Rivercats. In the rematch, Cedartown won 11-10. That victory sent Cedartown to the Elite Eight, a bracket with the final eight teams of the tournament.
Cedartown would stumble in Elite Eight opener, losing to the Sandy Plains Cougars Red 8-4. That defeat ended the World Series dreams for the Cedartown squad. The Core would finish 4-3 at the World Series.
Members of the Cedartown Core are Xavier Holiday, Zak Tillery, Gus Gammage, Brylan McCray, Dylan Cupp, Eli Barrow, Denver Nale, Reece Tanner, Brenton McGinnis, Cole Dingler, and Drew Kirkpatrick. Wayne Cupp is the manager and Carson Tanner, Gary McGinnis, and Darrin Nale are the coaches.
