Local attorney Bill Lundy of the Parker and Lundy law firm recently received an award recognizing him for professionalism in his profession and for his community service.

The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Robert Benam Award was presented in Atlanta at the State Bar of Georgia.

Presented annually, the award recognizes the professionalism and community service of outstanding attorneys. Lundy was recognized not only for his commitment to the profession, but locally for his service to Cedartown and Polk County through the Cedartown Theatrical Performers Company LLC, a program for children. The theatre company showcases local young talent through the performance of annual Broadway shows.

Lundy also was recognized for the annual Safe and Defensive Driving class, held every February and March to help teenage drivers be aware of the hazards and dangers of driving.

Lundy is senior partner at the law firm of Parker and Lundy, located at 212 Main St., Cedartown. Recently, Lundy and his firm obtained record jury verdicts of $9,502,683 and $2 million in cases involving mistreatment of the elderly in nursing home and health care facilities. Lundy’s partners are his brother, Richard, and Charles E. Morris Jr. The firm has been in existence since 1949.

Lundy and his wife, Catharine, also started a private school, Christian Academy LCA, located at 242 East Ave., Cedartown, in 2005. They couple have been married 29 years and they have four children: Laura, Will, Lee and Spencer.

Lundy also is proud to be a former Cedartown High School Bulldog.

Bill Lundy and his wife, Catharine, are both very wonderful people. Mr. and Ms. Lundy put forth their most valuable commodity- their time- into many great things for the community. They do these things from their hearts.

Thank God Cedartown has men like Bill Lundy who are not greedy in their money and actually want to make a change!! The Lundys are such a good Christian family with wonderful morals. I think he should win the peace prize award. Way to go Mr Lundy!!

Pardon! Who is in the plays, who attends the school and believe me there is a big tax right off. Glad he has the money to help other children that may never get to particpate in these Programs. There is more to life than Sports. Performing which they do with great skill is a hard job and they do it great. We are lucky to have this and I hope it will continue. Hats off to you Bill and Catherine and all the hard work you put into the community, without you the other children would probably never had a chance to show their skills.
