Georgia Northwestern Technical College (GNTC) will offer computer-based testing (CBT) to all eligible GED® candidates, whether first time test takers or those who were previously unsuccessful (or started but did not complete testing during the period from January 2002 to present).

All CBT candidates should register, schedule, and pay for tests online at www.gedcomputer.com or call 1-877-EXAMGED (open 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. EST). The testing lab at the Floyd County Campus will begin computer-based testing in July 2012, with the Walker County Campus lab following in late August.

Adults, 18 and older who have not graduated from high school, but are officially withdrawn from school, are eligible for testing.

Computer-based testing is made possible through a partnership between the GED® Testing Service, the Georgia GED® Testing Program of the Technical College System of Georgia, local official GED® Testing Centers, and Pearson Vue. The fee for testing is $32 per section, or $160 for the complete battery.

The traditional paper based testing will continue to be available on a limited basis through December 2012.

For additional information please call GNTC’s Adult Education at 706-295-6975.

The fee increase for using online testing software using is well worth it.

I work with a computer based testing software company and have found that using computer based exams help meet the diverse needs of exam administrators in the academic, certification and licensing realms. Computer based tests provide fair and easy access to everyone. Moreover, enabling the use of computers would improve readability, thereby simplifying the grading process and deter cheating.
