Johna Tidwell has been hired as the new varsity girls basketball coach at Cedartown High School.

A 1989 graduate of CHS, she has been teaching in Cartersville, where she now lives. She will be commuting at first, with plans to eventually move back to Cedartown.

She said she’s been wanting to move back to Cedartown and this opening was a perfect opportunity.

She has already met the returning players on the Lady Bulldogs team, and has been working with the students at various charity events in the community.

Tidwell and members of the Lady Bulldogs team were working as volunteers Thursday, June 7 at the First Thursday in the Park, a family night at Peek Park in Cedartown.

The girls painted butterflies, spiders, tiger faces and other designs on children’s faces, and handed out free balloons and coloring books.
