In the opening game, the Xtreme would down the North Georgia Pride 10-6. Lauren Lindsey earned the game ball, according to head coach Shane Lee.
In the second contest, the Cedartown squad competed against the North Georgia Knckouts and win 17-1. Lizzie Lee earned the game ball in this skirmish.
The Xtreme capped pool play by downing the Smokin’ Guns 9-7. Katrina Harris was awarded the game ball after this contest, according to Lee.
The Cedartown team received a bye in the first round of the Gold Bracket. In the semifinals, the Xtreme used solid pitching from Lauren-Ashlee Tillery and Lizzie Lee to run rule the Rome Xplosion 10-0 in four innings.
Makenzy Youngblood, the catcher, earned the game ball from Lee after the win.
In the championship game, the Xtreme squared off with the Heritage Generals, the No. 1 seed in the tournament.
“We experienced our first error that would cost runs (in this game),” Lee said. “We missed opportunities. We would be a little too aggressive on the bases and it cost us a couple of times.”
The Xtreme would lose in the title game to the Generals, although no final score was provided.
“The Heritage Generals are a great team, and very well coached,” Lee said. “We enjoy playing teams like the Generals because it makes us a better team.”
Lee also noted that a lot of players were injured at Dalton.
“We had a lot of players get hurt and injured during this tournament,” Lee said. “But they would fight through the pains to keep playing for each other. We had players move positions due to injuries.”
