A Taylorsville man is dead after he struck another vehicle nearly head-on around midnight on Friday outside Aragon, according to officials.

Polk County Deputy Coroner Tony Brazier said Kaleb S. Garrison, 27, of Taylorsville likely died on impact. He was pronounced dead at the scene, he said.

Current information leads officials to believe that Garrison’s Honda sedan crossed over the centerline on a back road between Aragon and Taylorsville, striking a Jeep Cherokee.

There are no details about the other driver or other injuries at this time. It is unknown what caused Garrison to cross over the centerline, but DUI is not suspected, according to Brazier.

The Georgia State Patrol (GSP) is handling the investigation.
