The Rockmart Recreation Department is planning to host several basketball clinics for boys and girls in the month of April.

According to recreation director Jeff Hulsey, clinics will be held on three dates next month. The event will be on Thursday nights from 6-7:30 p.m. on April 12, 19, and 26. Each session will be at the recreation department.

The clinics are for grades fourth through eighth, and they will be conducted by the Rockmart High School coaching staff and the city of Rockmart Recreation Department.

It’s a free event, however space is limited. Those interested should call the recreation department at 678-757-1001 to place their child on the list.

Also, the Rockmart Recreation Department will be having soccer camps for boys and girls ages 4-13 on May 14, 15, 17 and 19 at the Nathan Dean Complex. The camps will be from 6-8 p.m. on May 14, 15 and 17 and on May 19 it will be from 10 a.m. until noon. Sign-up dates are from now until May 4 and children may sign-up at the Municipal Building, 316 N. Piedmont. The fee is $35 per child. For more details, contact Bill Sherfesee at 770-387-8597.

Another boys and girls basketball camp will be held for ages 4-12 on May 21, 22 and 24. The camps will be from 6-7:30 p.m. each night at Scoggins Hall at the recreation department. Sign-up dates are from now until May 11. Birth certificates are not required for camps. The cost of the camp is $35. Sign-ups are at the Municipal Building, 316 N. Piedmont.

In addition, sign-ups are under way for the 2012 adult softball league for church or industrial teams. The fee is $400 per team, and the sign-up meeting will be April 19 at the Rockmart Recreation Department at 7 p.m. For more details, contact Hulsey at 678-757-1001.
