Polk County police were called to McKibben Road late Saturday night after deputies from a neighboring county found themselves wrestling with a suspect, according to reports.

Reports from the Polk County Police Department state that police were called out to the scene to assist a Haralson County deputy.

The deputy had chased a vehicle into Polk County where it wrecked at 385 McKibben Road, reports said.

The deputy was alone and the suspect was refusing to exit his vehicle, so 911 was called for local assistance.

Polk County police were told by 911 operators that shots had been fired and the deputy was fighting with the suspect.

Local officers said in reports that two Haralson County deputies were at the driver’s side window of the suspect’s car when they arrived.

Reports state the deputies were struggling with the suspect to gain positive control because the suspect was refusing to exit the vehicle and was resisting the deputies.

Eventually, the suspect was restrained with handcuffs, reports said.

An investigation of the scene indicated no shots were ever fired, reports said. The scene was turned over to Haralson County Sheriff’s deputies.
