The following is a list of events going on in and around Polk County today, Feb. 20:

1. Today is President's Day

2. In recognition of Heart Month, Redmond Regional Medical Center is hosting the ‘Redmond Has Heart’ community education event at the Forum in Rome today from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event will feature the Ameriheart exhibit, a walkthrough, interactive heart exhibit which educates visitors on heart anatomy, disease and disease prevention. The event will also feature: Emergency Services and 911 Education, AED and CPR demonstrations, interactive heart education games, heart-healthy nutritional information, state-of-the-art heart diagnostic technology, get-fit exercise and dance lessons, and much more.

4. Transitions Hospice Care is seeking compassionate individuals to provide support and companionship to patients. Anyone who would like to become an integral part of the Transitions Hospice Care team and offer superior hospice service to patients and families contact Britnee Tow, Volunteer Coordinator, at 706-378-2273 or btow@transitionshc.com. Opportunities are available in Rockmart, Cedartown and Rome.
