Rockmart High School graduate D.J. Ware has accomplished something most people never come close to accomplishing – winning two Super Bowls.

Ware, who went by “Danny” during his playing career at Rockmart High, played for the New York Giants on Feb. 5 when they beat New England 21-17 to win Super Bowl XLVI.

Ware already had one Super Bowl ring with the Giants. He was a member of the 2008 championship team, although he was not active for the game.

This time around, Ware was active and actually played in the big game that was viewed by more than 111 million people.

Ware had one carry for six yards in this Super Bowl.

Ware had seen action in 15 games for the Giants leading up to the Super Bowl, including the 37-20 stunning victory over the Green Bay Packers in the NFC playoffs.

Ware had just two carries in the Green Bay win, but had totaled 163 yards on 46 attempts for the regular season, and he had made an impact on the passing game as well. He caught 27 passes this season for a total of 170 yards.

After his Super Bowl run, Ware finishes the year with 173 yards on 50 carries.

At Rockmart, Ware was selected to the Rome News-Tribune’s All-Area team on multiple occasions, and went to play at the University of Georgia after playing one season at Hargrave Military Academy.

For his career, he has seen action in 44 regular season games with a total of 324 yards rushing on 81 carriers, and 37 receptions for 252 yards.
