CHS announces faculty and student of the month

Tom McGarity, Band and Choral Director, who has been elected as January’s faculty of the month for Cedartown High School.

McGarity has 36 years of experience in education. He received a BS and MS degree in Music Education from Jacksonville State University. He has served as band director at Jacksonville, Anniston and Talladega High Schools and currently serves as the CHS band director.

McGarity has been married to his wife Pam for 37 years. They have one daughter, Summer. When asked about his job, Tom said, “I love working with young people and creating an opportunity for them to express themselves through music. I am very fond of the students, faculty, and staff that I have had the privilege to work with.”

Michael Ramos was selected by the faculty and staff as CHS student of the month for January. Michael is a junior at CHS. He has worked extremely hard this year improve his grades and be actively involved in his classes. Michael plans to continue his education at a technical college and pursue a career in construction.
