The Compassion House and Team Home Depot from Cedartown and Rome teamed up to clean the old Heilig-Meyers Furniture building on South Main Street Monday.

Tara Payne and Rydell Palmer, CEO's of the Compassion House said they had received permission to work on cleaning up the building and hoped they would eventually be allowed to use it for their operations as a food bank.

"Our first step is working towards cleaning it up. We partnered with Redmond and the Home Depot teams of Cedartown and Rome," Payne said.

Palmer said that even if they end up getting to use the building, they will at least have cleaned it up, which would also help the community.
