Polk County police are looking for a man reportedly causing trouble in one Taylorsville store and attempting to break into another, according to police reports.

Officers from the Polk County Police Department were called to the Petro Mart in Taylorsville around 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 2.

A store clerk had called police after a man started causing problems, the report said.

The clerk told police he confronted the man after he saw him put items in his pocket.

The man, identified only as a Taylorsville resident named Jeffery with an unknown last name, began to get confrontational, refused to leave and allegedly threw items in the store, reports state.

The man left when police were called and headed toward the county line on Church Street.

Reports said officers then drove on Church Street and spotted a man fitting witnesses’ description trying to break into Taylorsville Pharmacy at 105 Church Street.

Police said the man fled once they were spotted. A chase ensued, but the man jumped over two fences and into dense vegetation. A K-9 unit from Cedartown was sent out, but the man has not been located.

The man is described as white, around 5-foot, 7-inches tall, sandy blond hair, and wearing a red T-shirt and pants.

Anyone with any information is asked to call the Polk County Police Department at 770-748-7331.
