The following is a list of events going on this weekend, Dec. 31-Jan. 2 in and around Polk County:

Saturday

1. The Cedartown Library will be closed Saturday, Dec. 31 in observance of the New Year's Day holiday.

2. Heather Garner Ministries will host a New Year's Eve night celebration at the Rome City Auditorium at 8 p.m. The event will feature free food, prizes and fun for all

Sunday

1. Pastors Ruby Griffith and Mark Hanson of New Beginnings Tabernacle, 508 McKibben Rd., would like to invite everyone to Sunday school services at 10:30 a.m.,

2. Truth and Life Ministry is a new church located on McArthur Street led by brother John Vines. Sunday morning services are held at 11 a.m. each week

3. Cedartown First Presbyterian Church will hold Sunday morning worship service at 11 a.m.

4. Cedartown First Methodist Church will hold Sunday morning worship service at 11 a.m.

Monday

1. The Cedartown Standard and Rockmart Journal offices will be closed and will reopen Tuesday, Jan. 3 at 9 a.m.

2. The Compassionate Friends of Polk County meets the second Monday of each month at 7 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall at Second Baptist Church, 152 Evergreen Lane, in Cedartown (across from Cherokee Elementary School). The support group is for families to help with the grief and healing process after the loss of a child. It commemorates and honors children, siblings and grandchildren of all ages who have died from any cause. The organization is non-sectarian.
