Tara Payne, service coordinator for Tallatoona Community Action Partners in Cedartown, said volunteers are assisting Redmond Regional Medical Center with a toy collection for 70 families, including 189 children.
Payne said many of these are older children who will not be receiving presents from other Christmas charities.
Families have already been identified, and as of Monday the effort was falling short of the number of toys needed. The toys are to be distributed Thursday.
