A power outage Friday in north Cedartown has affected an estimated 2,100 customers.

A Georgia Power Co. spokesperson said crews were dispatched shortly before noon. The exact nature of the outage and the time needed to bring power online remained uncertain at 12:15 p.m.

"We have crews on the way," a media representative said. "We hope we can isolate the problem and do some switching to get power restored to those customers."

Electrical power went off suddenly shortly around 11 a.m. and cut off traffic lights on north main street, along with neighboring homes and businesses.

The traffic signal at the three-way intersection of Main, Queen and Philpot streets was out, other lights were also out north of that location.

Businesses, including several popular fast food restaurants along the North Main Street strip, the Kroger grocery store and other businesses were still without power after noon.
