A Rome man will serve at least 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to three counts of child molestation in a Polk County case.

According to Polk County jail records, David Eugene Dodd, of 400 North Avenue, Rome, was processed for incarceration Oct. 17 after he was sentenced in Polk County Superior Court.

Dodd was sentenced to 30 years, to serve 10, with several special conditions from the judge after he pleaded to three of the seven charges against him, according to officials in the Polk County District Attorney’s Office.

Court records show Dodd was indicted last March on the seven charges initiated by a Polk County Police Department investigation.

The original charges included four counts of child molestation and three counts of rape. All stemmed from incidents involving the same victim, a Polk County female under 16-years-old, from Jan. 1, 2007 through Jan. 15, 2008, according to court records.

The Rockmart Journal and Cedartown Standard do not identify victims of sex crimes.
