A Rockmart man charged with murder is out of jail on bond, according to Polk County Jail and court records.

Vincent Morris Jr., 24, of 516 Fox Trot Road, Rockmart, was released Sept. 6 from the Polk County Jail after a judge ordered he be released on a $25,000 property bond.

Superior Court Judge Michael Murphy issued the order, according to court documents.

Morris was arrested Aug. 3 in connection with the Jan. 1 shooting death of 16-year-old Rodney Arzes Mitchell Jr.

Police issued a warrant for Morris after he was indicted by a Polk County Grand Jury in July on malice murder, felony murder, and aggravated assault, according police.

Morris is one of two men indicted by the July grand jury in connection with Mitchell's death.

Jermaine Ware, 34, of 4720 Collard Valley Road, Cedartown, was identified by witnesses as man who shot Mitchell. Ware is charged with malice murder, felony murder, three counts of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, records indicate.

Ware, who had surrendered to police Jan. 6, remains in the Polk County Jail.

Ordered released

According to the bond order, Murphy had two conditions for Morris upon his release.

The judge ordered that bond be revoked if Morris was re-arrested for a new violation of any state, federal or local laws. In that case, he would remain in the Polk County Jail until his trial date.

Murphy also ordered that Morris have “absolutely no contact direct or indirect” with 11 people involved or affected with the homicide case. Many of those are Mitchell’s relatives.
