The following is a list of events going on in and around Polk County this weekend, Aug. 13-14:

Saturday

1. A charity ride for Alexia Brook Williams will be held Aug. 13 beginning and ending at Polk Medical Center in Cedartown. Registration will begin at 9 a.m. the ride will start at 11 a.m. A $20 donation is requested per bike. Escorts will be provided by the Cedartown Police Department, the Polk County Sheriff’s Department, Harlson County Sheriff’s Department and Redmond EMS. Door prizes and a 50/50 drawing will be held. 2. Fashion Statements, 579 West Ave., Cedartown, will hold its grand opening at 9 a.m. Refreshments will be available and door prizes will be given away every 30 minutes. For more information, contact Angie Watson, 706-409-0424.

3. The Polk County Democratic Committe will hold its regularly scheduled meeting on Saturday, Aug. 13, at 9 a.m. at the Cedartown Depot. All interested citizens are invited to attend.

4. The Possum Snout Arena on Hwy. 78 in Tallapoosa will hosts “Horsin’ Around Fun Shows” the second Saturday of each month until November. Registration for each event will begin at 4 p.m. There will be adult, junior and open classes. All proceeds will benefit Rachel’s Wish Foundation. Call 770-574-8104 for more information.

5. Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church of Hiram will hold a Summer Gospel concert at 6 p.m. at the Chattahoochee Technical College Auditorium, Paulding Campus, 400 Nathan Dean Blvd. Dallas, Georiga 30132. Sunday

1. Lee's Chapel will hold a homecoming on Sunday Aug. 14, at 10:30 a.m. featuring the Bluegrass Gospel Group Not By Chance.

2. New Beginnings Tabernacle, 508 McKibben Rd., would like to invite everyone to Sunday School services at 10:30 a.m. and worship service at noon.

3. Cedartown First Presbyterian Church will hold Sunday morning worship service at 11 a.m.

4. Cedartown First United Methodist Church will hold Sunday morning worship service at 11 a.m.
