A Polk County Grand Jury has indicted a suspected trigger- man in the death of a 16-year-old Rockmart boy killed last January.

Jermaine Deon Ware, 34, of 4720 Collard Valley Road, Cedartown, was indicted Tuesday on charges of malice murder, felony murder, three counts of aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Ware, also known as Jermaine Rumph and by the nickname of “Big Money,” remains under the custody of the Polk County Sheriff’s Office but has been housed elsewhere since his arrest for his own safety.

Ware had surrendered to police January 6.

He is charged in the New Year’s Day shooting death of Rodney Arzez Mitchell Jr., 16, of Rockmart in the area of Gordon and Church Streets in Rockmart.

Witnesses identify Ware as the shooter leading to the firearm charge, according to police.

Two of the aggravated assault charges stem from allegedly pointing a gun at two other people, Jana Stocks and Deundra Cummings, according to the indictment.

Ware had been released from the jail Dec. 24, 2010. A document states the releasing officer was L. Price. However, his release was actually approved by Chief Deputy Shayne Garrison, according to documents.

According to documents, Ware was arrested Nov. 4 on a charge that he violated his probation on Sept. 28.
