The following is a list of events going on in and around Polk County today, June 27:

1. RHS Varsity Cheer Annual Golf Tournament is scheduled for 8 a.m. - 2 p.m. today, at Cherokee Golf and Country Club Bree Purser Brown Time: Registration begins at 8:00, Shotgun start at 9:00, Awards and Lunch at 1:00

2.The Cedartown Library story hour will feature storyteller Barry Stewart Mann. In his show “Culture Man to the Rescue”, a superhero travels the world gathering folklore to help kids solve problems, including tales from West Africa, Ireland, Cuba and China that are retold in familiar picture books – all delivered with colorful cultural touches and fun for all. This Story Hour show is sponsored by Esther R. Husser, Carol Casey, and the Honorable Richard and Beam Sutton.

3. Anna Kresge United Methodist Church is having its Vacation Bible School program from June 27 until July 1, from 6-8:30 p.m. Supper will be provided each night. Transportation is available by calling the church at 770-748-4308 to make arrangements. The kick-off cookout will be Saturday, June 25 from noon until 1:30 p.m. at Peek Park. The community is invited to attend and register for VBS at that time. VBS will be for children ages 4-12.

4. Antioch Baptist Church, 3923 Antioch Rd., Cedartown will host Vacation Bible School from Sunday, June 26 until Thursday, June 30, from 6-9 p.m. each night. Classes will be offered for all ages. On Saturday, June 25 from 11 a.m.-3 p.m., the church will have a Vacation Bible School kickoff so families and kids can pre-register for classes and enjoy a water slide, games, face art, food, and a hay ride. The kickoff will be across from the church at Camp Antioch. There will also be a family night on Friday, July 1 at 6:30 p.m. to come out to see what your child has learned, watch them in a music performance, and eat homemade ice cream.
