ATLANTA (AP) — About 150 charter school advocates from across the country rallied at the Georgia Capitol in support of a handful schools in danger of closing over a court ruling.

The rally schools Thursday included attendees in town for the National Charter Schools Conference, which began Monday and drew 4,000 people to the city. During the rally, charter school leaders called for lawmakers to address a recent Georgia Supreme Court ruling that part of the state's charter school law was unconstitutional.

State lawmakers have vowed to introduce a constitutional amendment that would address the court's ruling. The ruling put 16 schools in limbo because the commission that approved them was ruled illegal.
