ATLANTA -- The largest annual gathering of charter school advocates and employees is in Atlanta this week.

The National Charter Schools Conference kicks off Monday with a reception at the Georgia Aquarium and a keynote speech Tuesday morning at 11:30 from former President Bill Clinton. The conference runs through Thursday at the World Congress Center in downtown.

Other speakers include Newark, N.J., Mayor Cory Booker, Education Secretary Arne Duncan and Children's Defense Fund founder Marian Wright Edelman.

The conference created by the National Alliance for Public Charter Schools is expected to draw about 4,000 people from across the country.
