A Cartown man is in stable condition at Floyd Medical Center (FMC) in Rome after a Monday night shooting on Pace Street.

Demetrius Washington, 22, of East Gibson St., Cedartown, was shot around 9:30 p.m. on Pace Street near Park Street, according to Cedartown Assistant Police Chief Jamie Newsome.

Newsome said police are working on several leads but have made no arrest.

The Cedartown shooting was the second this week with another shooting Sunday night occurring in Rockmart. A man, Timothy Leon Gibbs, was shot in that incident and remains hospitalized at Grady Memorial Hospital, according to police.

Gibbs’ wife, Robin, was beaten in the incident, according to police.

Javon Bledson, 18, of 223 Piedmont Ave., Rockmart, was arrested and charged in the Rockmart shooting.

The two incidents are not related.
