UPDATE:The crash occurred this morning around 8:08 a.m. on Youngs Farm Road in Polk County and resulted in one fatality and one injury.

A 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche was eastbound on Youngs Farm Road when the vehicle traveled across the roadway and overturned. The vehicle came to rest on the driver's side.

The driver was not injured. She is Wendy Lynn Corn, age 29, of Cedartown.

Killed in the crash was Owen Noah Poole, age 9, of Cedartown. He was ejected from the vehicle.

Aaliyah Poole, age 5, of Cedartown was airlifted to Scottish Rite in Atlanta for treatment of injuries.

UPDATE:

Authorities have released the names of those killed and injured in a single-vehicle accident Wednesday morning near Youngs Grove Elementary School.

Assistant Polk County Coroner Tony Brazier said Owen Lee Poole, 9, of a Tallapoosa Highway, Cedartown address, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Poole's 4-year-old sister was seriously injured in the wreck and was rushed to helicopter to Scottish Rite Hospital in Atlanta by an Emory Flight helicopter. Her name was not immediately available.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, the fatal accident occurred around 7:50 a.m. on Young's Farm Road.

The driver of the vehicle was Wendy Lynn Corn, the children's mother. Brazier said the family was headed to Young's Grove Elementary School, where both Poole and his sister attend school.

Corn apparently lost control of her Chevrolet Avalanche and left the roadway. The vehicle flipped, and Poole was ejected from the truck, Brazier said.

The daughter was partially ejected from the vehicle. Corn sustained minor injuries in the accident, he said.

"All appeared to be unrestrained in the vehicle," Brazier said.

Additional information about the condition of the 4-year-old girl was not immediately available.

Officials described the wreck as a one-vehicle rollover wreck. A 10-year-old child was killed.

Also, a four-year-old child was injured and was airlifted by emergency helicopter to Scottish Rite Hospital in Atlanta.
