ATLANTA -- Newt Gingrich is set to scoop up Georgia dollars for his likely presidential bid.

Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal as well as two former governors - Republican Sonny Perdue and Democrat Zell Miller - will host an Atlanta fundraiser for the former U.S. House speaker Wednesday night.

Gingrich is testing the waters for a White House run and is expected to announce by early May whether he will seek the Republican nomination.

Tickets are $1,000 a person. A contribution of $2,500 will get participants into a reception and a photo with the former Georgia congressman. Co-chairmen have agreed to raise $50,000.

Although he hasn't lived in Georgia in more than a decade, Gingrich has been playing up his roots in the state.
