Update: Georgia Power said approximately 700 Polk County residents were still without power as of 1 p.m.

Update: As of 11:15 a.m. approximately 786 Polk County residents are still without power after last night's thunderstorm, according to Georgia Power.

A Georgia Power representative said the majority of the outages are the result of downed trees.

Georgia Power said they do not have a specific restoration time yet because strong wind gusts continue to slow down clean up.

Work is expected to continue throughout the day.

Previously reported:A massive tree has both lanes of College Street in Cedartown blocked this morning near East Jule Peak.

Bob Worthington, of the state streets department, said the tree went down around 5 a.m. taking several power lines with it.

"Georgia power has already shut off power to the area and we called Barrett's Tree Service to remove the tree," Worthington said.

Worthington said the clean up may take several hours.
