ROMULUS, Mich. -- Officials say a Delta flight to Atlanta landed safety after being diverted to Detroit Metropolitan Airport when a warning light indicated a high temperature reading in the tail of the plane.

Delta spokesman Anthony Black says Flight 1980 with 110 passengers and five crew members took off from Grand Rapids in southwestern Michigan and landed without incident Tuesday morning at the airport in Romulus.

Black says a sensor in the tail showed a high temperature, and the airline is investigating if there was a problem or if it was a faulty sensor.

Black says Atlanta-based Delta Air Lines Inc. was getting passengers to their final destinations on other planes.
