There will be a 'Mudder on Main' block party on Saturday, March 12 from 6-10 p.m. on the 300 block of Main Street.

The Downtown Cedartown Association will be teaming up with community members and local businesses to host the Mudder on Main Block Party. Local bands and vendors will provide food and entertainment to the people of Cedartown and our out-of-town Tough Mudder guests. Everyone is encouraged to come out and enjoy live music, good food, and fun with friends from 6 - 10 p.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2011.

The Mudder on Main Block Party will be in the 300 block of Historic Downtown Cedartown, located between Bussey's Florist and Pink Sugar. There will be one entry point located on the north end of the 300 block, near Bussey's Florist. Be a part of welcoming events like Tough Mudder to our community and bringing guests into Cedartown who will support our local businesses. Don't miss out on volunteering for this exciting communitywide event.

Please contact the Downtown Cedartown Association at 770-748-2090 or Pink Sugar at 770-748-6410 to get involved or to be a food vendor by Wednesday, March 9.

Great block party. Great tough mudder event. Is it possible to recall the three commissioners who are trying prevent Polk County from ever having this event again.

Ban Alcohol !!! I mean realy come on !!! We are wet here ya know?? I now plenty of people that go to the store on Saturday night buy their Beer/Alcohol then get up and go to Church on Sundays!!. Your trying to exclude people dependendant on your Religous beliefs which is not representative of the enitire community. This event also attracted people who did not drink. I for one did not Drink, you know why?? because I am a responsible Drinker, I do not drink & drive, period! They didn't seem to have a problem with the ones that did! And besides that I would like to know just who much revenue that brought into town last night, which we all could use in an area that is ridden with unemployment. And guess what as far as I know everyone was well behaved last night, the Police officers were great! They did their job checking IDs, so whats the Problem!!

That is the very mentality that is running alot business out of this town. Its time to move forward not backward. I do know one thing. When its time to re-elect I for one will be voting for someone thats going to work for me as a citizen not for himself and his views, someone that represents ( ALL people of this town and doesnt segregate due to his /her beleif system.... seperation of Church and State.

I don't think prohibition is the answer. I'm sure it has done more harm than good.

Definitely ban alcohol. It's what Jesus would want.

Yea, the City is having a block party...I hope that we have a huge turnout and it is very successful. You do not have to drink to attend, if you do drink bring a driver to take you home. We need to support events that will bring income. We need jobs, and businesses to move back to Cedartown & Rockmart.

Thanks to the Polk County commissioners who attempt to keep Polk County events family friendly and alcohol free. we all want more activities for our youth and alcohol use should not be a factor in any events for our youth and teens. drug and alcohol use is a major problem and I see no need to encourage it further. Those of you griping because the commissioners refused the alcohol permit wouldn't be griping so much if your loved one had been killed by a drunk driver. I know how that feels.

I for one AM one of Cedertowns residents and don't care for or want any more booze sold out there and am glad the Commission voted it down. The Mudder folks just want to make MORE money on the event. Yes, some is given to a good cause but it's about the money for them to keep also. You can bet their will be PLENTY of beer and such brought by just about all comming. It's just that the Tough Mudder company wont be sharing in the profits of it being sold. It would of been the TOP grossing profit of the event to be sure. Thats their problem with it. We welcome the event but not the EXTRA beer brought on by more sales out there not to metion the trash ALL up and down the streets in the area. I know, I SEE IT increase on the weekends from out there. I live in the area. I've NEVER seen anyone picking it up ANYWHERE. We as residents of the area need to also be more careful of our own garbage in the district as we travel to dispose of it.

Ummm... So they City thinks that by throwing a Block Party that they will come back? Did anyone see the 3/4/2011 post of the e-mail that THEY ARE NOT COMING BACK? That is unless 3 Commish's change their VOTES to what the PUBLIC wants and NOT THEMSELVES!! Guess someone decided to make a little money off of!!
