Guy Livingstone, the COO of Tough Mudder informed Cedartown City Manager Robbie Rokovitz that the Tough Mudder event would be unable to return to Highland Park in 2012 unless it obtained an alcohol license.

The email was given to the Cedartown Standard and reads as follows:

Robbie,

Many Thanks for getting in tough and for your expression of support Tough Mudder and the Wounded Warrior Project. As you can imagine, we are incredibly disappointed by the decision of the Board of Commissioners of Polk County to reject our application for a special permit to serve alcohol at our upcoming event at Highland Park.

Unfortunately much as we are happy to be coming to Cedartown this year for what will be an incredibly fun and successful event, due to our existing contractual obligations with our sponsors Dos Equis, we simply cannot return next year to Highland Park if it remains under the jurisdiction of Polk County and it still does not have an alcohol license.

In order to ensure that we return next year and for the next 5 years, it is absolutely imperative that the City of Cedartown does all it can to expedite the process. We are going to be finalizing our event calendar for 2012 within the next six weeks, so we will need an answer by the end of April.

I look forward to meeting you at the event next weekend.

With kind regards and best wishes,

Guy Livingstone COO Tough Mudder

I wish to say thank you to the two county commissioners that voted for the beer license that could have secured the Mudder Event. For the rest of you I say 'REALLY'? You were elected to help provide for this community. Can you not see that this event can bring much needed revenue into our county. Do you not think that other such events or businesses will not see this and take their business elsewhere. The amount of money that this event can bring into Polk County is what we need. This can help every business in Cedartown, hotels, gas stations, grocery stores, etc... Take off your blinders and think outside the box. From what I have heard there were no problems from this event and everyone had a great time. You need to change your minds about this or the voters of this county may change their minds about who is sitting in your seats come election time.

Hopefully they will see the amount of traffic and sales this coming weekend will hold, and think otherwise. I've signed my death waiver and I'm ready to go this Saturday.

Dear Polk County Board of Commissioners,

You are all idiots.

Sincerely,
