DALTON, Ga. (AP)-- Georgia Power officials say a new solar energy facility planned for Murray County could produce enough electricity to power 400 houses when it is fully operational.

Work on the first phase of the project is expected to start this spring.

Officials say the project will be built on Murray County land leased from Dalton Utilities.

It will be developed in stages of about 350 kilowatts each, with a total wattage of 1 megawatt by Jan. 2014.
