ATLANTA -- Lines of of tractor-trailers and cars are stuck on icy interstates in Atlanta as Georgia Department of Transportation crews struggle to reach trouble spots.

Trucker Vernon Cook of Myrtle Beach, S.C., said he's been sitting still on the Interstate 285 ramp to I-75 south for almost 24 hours. He said he's seen DOT trucks drive by but they haven't dropped gravel or salt on the icy roads.

DOT spokeswoman Jill Goldberg said crews are doing the best they can but clogged traffic is preventing trucks from reaching many areas of the interstates. Frigid temperatures are also causing areas that have been deiced to freeze again.
