Armed robbery of convenience store remains under investigation

An armed robbery incident was reported Monday evening at the Fast Food & Fuel convenience store at 1410 Buchanan Highway.

Arrested were Billy Joe Moody, 17, and Artie Lavelle Alford, 18, addresses unavailable. A full account of charges was pending.

The robbery occurred at 9:51 p.m.

The Polk County Police Department responded with assistance from the Cedartown Police Department.

According to the Cedartown Police Department, a city K-9 unit located two ski masks behind a residence on Persimmon Avenue. A firearm and an article of clothing was found in the crawl space of a residence on West Ellawood Avenue.

The two suspects reportedly were taken into custody in the area of 1018 Rock Street. Moody reportedly had a large amount of cash on his person when arrested.

Polk County police said the crime remained under investigation today and the department would not release additional details until later.
