A new E-1 Top-Mount Pumper has been delivered to the City of Aragon’s fire department.

Cost of the pumper, $193,116.85, will be funded from Aragon’s Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST).

"I want to thank each person who voted for the SPLOST," said Fire Chief Curtis Burrus.

"The one cent sales tax has made it possible for Aragon to have a new pumper, which will replace the old one that I believe was purchased in 1977-1978."

He said the new pumper would be a good first response vehicle.

"It is easer to maneuver along Aragon streets than the ladder truck."

Burrus said Aragon’s active volunteer firefighters would be using the pumper in training sessions.

The vehicle was displayed at the annual Aragon BBQ, held on Saturday, June 28.
