The following is a list of events going on in and around Polk County today, June 19: 1. The Cedartown Senior Citizen Nutrition Center located next to Bert Wood Park has activities Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Seniors 55 and older may participate in activities. Seniors 60 and older may participate in activities as well as nutritional meals and trips. 2. Kids in Recovery meets every Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the Cedartown Library for kids ages 12 to 19-years-old with substance abuse problems. For more information call Pastor Sims, 770-546-0772. 3. The Rockmart Civic Arts Commission 316 N. Piedmont Ave., Bldg. 300, Rockmart, holds open studio pottery classeson Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 6:30-8:30 p.m. with Instructor Paul Craighead. Good news and kudos to the Polk commissioners. Police are under armed already and need these type things to help. I'm glad Polk finally joined the rest of the world that's had stun guns for years.
