Polk residents are invited to attend an information session on Wednesday, July 8, 2009, at 6:30 p.m. in Cartersville about Reinhardt College degree-completion programs in Organization Management Leadership and Public Safety Leadership.

These bachelor’s degree programs are being offered beginning in August 2009 in Cartersville in conjunction with the local fire department. The info session will be held at Fire Station 1 on 19 Erwin Street in Cartersville, Ga.

“Past history shows that these programs are especially well-suited for students who live or work within a 60-minute drive of the class location, so we want to issue an invitation for prospective students from Floyd, Paulding, Chattooga, Murray, Polk and Cherokee counties,” said Peg O’Connor, Reinhardt College associate vice president for academic affairs.

“By partnering with the Cartersville Fire Department, we are helping the agency address the educational needs of their personnel, and by opening the classes to the public, we’ll bring additional skill sets and experiences into the class discussions. In our small classes, our instructors invite discussion to complement the text-book material. This makes what students learn even more relevant and easy to apply in the work world.”

Classes will accommodate the schedules of fire fighters from Bartow County and surrounding counties. Classes will be offered one night a week on a rotating schedule for eight weeks over a 16-month period. On-line options will also be available.

These classes will also be open to area residents and other first responders. The coursework teaches key management skills for individuals interested in employment and/or advancement in public safety or corporate arenas.
