Mr. Cecil Eugene Wilkes, Sr., 66, of Aragon, passed away Saturday, July 28, 2012.

He was born on May 4, 1946 in the Cashtown Community of Aragon, the son of Horace Eugene Wilkes and the late Bobbie Presley Wilkes.

Mr. Wilkes was a veteran of the United States Army having served during the Vietnam Conflict. He was of the Baptist faith and prior to retirement was self employed in the carpet industry.

He was preceded in death by a brother,Red Wilkes.

Survivors included two daughters, Chasity Sheree Wilkes of Rockmart and Sabrina Edwards of Silver Creek; three sons, Cecil Eugene Wilkes Jr., Brian Lamar Wilkes and Jamie Lamar Wilkes all of Rockmart; his father, Horace Eugene Wilkes of Douglasville; brother, Wayne Wilkes of Cedartown and a host of grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survived.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Aug. 1 at 10 a.m. in the chapel of the Freeman Harris Funeral Home with Rev. Stevie Waddell officiating.

Interment services followed in the Georgia National Cemetery of Canton with full military graveside honors being provided by the Veterans Alliance Honor Guard.

The following gentlemen served as pallbearers: Brandon Dukes, Walter Darrell Presley, Scott Douglas, Blue Edwards, Ty Edwards, Brandon Jones and Skipper Elders.
