The Cedartown Bulldogs opened the season on Tuesday, Nov. 24 in a quad match at Rockmart High School.

Head Coach Jerry Hartline’s team took on Carrollton, Dade County and Rockmart.

"We are a very young team with some inexperienced guys stepping on the mat for the first time in their lives," Hartline said.

According to Hartline, Leo Cordero had a strong showing.

"He was very impressive wrestling up a weight class at 160 pounds," Hartline said, while noting that Cordero won all three of his matches.

Other wrestlers who did well were Mikey Warner (two wins in the 130 pound division), Daniel Williams (one win in the 171 pound division) and Jordan Watkins (one win in the 145 pound division).

Cedartown was supposed to have its first home match of the season last Tuesday against Piedmont, Ala. however that contest was cancelled.

"It was cancelled due to Piedmont still playing in the Alabama state football playoffs," Hartline said.
