A police officer and two suspects sustained minor injuries last Friday after one of those suspects reportedly tried to steal an Aragon police car.

According to a press release from the Aragon Police Department, the incident happened around 11:30 p.m. when an Aragon officer stopped a vehicle on Portland Road at Oakridge Drive on numerous traffic violations and a suspicion of DUI.

According to police, a passenger in the vehicle identified as Tina Poole became belligerent and interfered with the officer’s questioning of the driver.

The officer then arrested Poole for obstruction, handcuffed her and put her in the rear of the patrol vehicle. He then continued with the traffic stop investigation with the driver stepping outside of the stopped vehicle.

Police said Poole apparently escaped from the handcuffs and found a way to the front of the Aragon police car. The officer then attempted to remove her, reports said.

It was then Poole accelerated to a high rate of speed, striking both the officer and the driver of the vehicle originally stopped by police, according to reports.

The other suspect, the driver of the vehicle that had been stopped, traveled around 25 feet on the police car hood before he fell to the ground, reports state.

The officer, who was still attempting to remove Poole from the police car, was dragged until he released himself as Poole sped away, reports state.

Rockmart police officers reportedly pursued Poole as she hit several mailboxes and a utility pole. The pursuit ended when Poole hit a ditch on Portland Road and Jenna Drive, about a quarter of a mile away, police said.

Police then restrained Poole.

The officer sustained only minor injuries. The driver of the original vehicle was taken to Floyd Medical Center and has since been released and placed under arrest for DUI. Poole was taken to a local hospital for injuries and was then transported to the Polk County Jail.

At this late hour were there any witnesses? Possibly the camera in the patrol car will show evidence of what happened pertaining to the officer being dragged. Escaping handcuffs and climbing thru the to the front has probably never happened before. I believe the officer under estimated the psychological condition of the woman, however, the woman and the driver were intoxicated to the degree that they were a danger to themselves AND OTHERS. And the driver being underage and DUI is awful. If the officer fired a shot, he was within the legal right to do so...if you run, they can and will shoot you! I'm sure he has been trained to handle his gun and that residents were not in danger of random gun fire...situations like this is why the are armed. Thank god they were stopped before they possibly had an accident that caused loss of life.

HAHA, everyone knows that the aragon police are a joke. If you have ever seen them at the aragon bar-b-q. They walk around with guns strapped to their legs, like they are swat. Something needs to be done. People drive all the way around prospect road to avoid driving through the main part of aragon. Scared they are gonna get pulled over for something stupid. Got to be killing the local stores.

Someone should ask about what really happened, like why he left the sliding window on the prisoner cage open, that's how she got to the front, the rear doors of a police car wont open from the inside.

Or maybe why they are saying he was dragged, he was partially struck by the car as it went by.

And one other minor detail, what about the shot that he fired at the vehicle as it was driving away, did they check to see where it went, it could have went through someones house and hit them.

Don't always believe what they give the press, this is a simple act of trying to cover up an officer's negligence, one of which is notorious for getting in trouble and making bad decisions.

If you choose not to believe this, just wait because the truth will come out on it's own
