The following is a list of events going on in and around Polk County today, Oct. 4:

1. The Cedartown Senior Citizen Nutrition Center located next to Burt Wood Park has activities Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Seniors 55 and older may participate in activites. Seniors 60 and older may participate in activities as well as nutritional meals and trips.

2. The Cedartown library also hosts story time for children every Thursday at 11 a.m.

3. The Cedartown Parks and Recreation Authority offers line dancing lessions from 6-8 p.m. every Thursday in the Christian Center located at 605 Lanton Drive.

4. The Polk County Farm Bureau will host a “Meet the Candidates” Political Forum at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4 in the Rockmart Community Center, 604 Goodyear St., Rockmart. Candidates for Polk County Sheriff and the Georgia House of Representatives, District 16, have agreed to attend. The candidates for the sheriffs race are Kelly McLendon, incumbent, running on the Democratic ballot; and Johnny Moats, on the Republican ballot. The candidates for the Georgia House, Dist. 16, are Rick Crawford, incumbent, on the Democratic ballot; and Trey Kelley, challenger, on the Republican ballot.
