The following is a list of events going on in and around Polk County today, Nov. 6:

1. Today is election day, if you have not already voted please do so today. Polls are open until 7 p.m.

2. The Cedartown Senior Citizen Nutrition Center located next to Burt Wood Park has activities Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Seniors 55 and older may participate in activities. Seniors 60 and older may participate in activities as well as nutritional meals and trips.

3. Haven, a support group for women, meets each Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the auditorium of the Cedartown Housing Authority, 344 West Ave. A group discusses such issues as domestic violence, sexual assault and addictions among other topics. The group is described as a place where women can safely talk about any problem or issue they may be having. For more information, contact 770-748-6633 or 770-748-2300.

4. AARP Tax-aide seeks Rockmart and Cedartown volunteers to help taxpayers who are seeking assistance in preparing and filing their 2012 tax returns. Volunteers do not need to be an AARP member or retiree to participate. Volunteers should have some computer or management experience.
