The following is a list of events going on in and around Polk County today, Aug. 28:

1. The Cedartown Senior Citizen Nutrition Center located next to Burt Wood Park has activities Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Seniors 55 and older may participate in activites. Seniors 60 and older may participate in activities as well as nutritional meals and trips.

2. Haven, a support group for women, meets each Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the auditorium of the Cedartown Housing Authority, 344 West Ave. A group discusses such issues as domestic violence, sexual assault and addictions among other topics. The group is described as a place where women can safely talk about any problem or issue they may be having. For more information, contact 770-748-6633 or 770-748-2300.

3. The Polk County Board of Commissioners will meet Tuesday, Aug. 28 at 5 p.m. at the Georgia State Patrol Building to consider a lease agreemetn between Polk County and the Georgia State Patrol.
