There haven’t been any more arrests overnight from the sting targeting an alleged car theft ring in Polk County, according to records available at the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
However, some of those arrested earlier are now bonding out of jail.
Marvin Cheatwood, for theft by receiving stolen property involving a motor vehicle has been released on a property bond, according to jail officials.
Richard Gerald Haney, 63, was released on a second property bond. He was picked up a second time Wednesday on a separate charge for operating a chop shop. He is also charged with theft by receiving stolen property.
Haney’s son, Richard Todd Haney, 40, was also released on a property bond. He is charged with possession of a vehicle with an altered identification number.
Officials said at least four others were arrested Wednesday who were not a part of the probe and didn’t have direct involvement in the suspected theft ring. Those arrests came during a police roadblock at one of the businesses, officials said.
Those arrests include:
Olen Jerry Sisson, 67, of 4301 Collard Valley Road, Cedartown, arrested on charges of theft by receiving stolen property. He was released on his own recognizance per Judge Whiteside.
Michael Justin Price, 30, of 152 Yale Road, Rome, was arrested on charges of possession of schedule III and schedule IV drugs and drugs not in their original container. He was released on a property bond.

Additionally, Michael Robinson, a former deputy with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, was not processed through Polk County but was processed and is being held through another county.
Robinson was charged by agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms with federal weapons violations.
The same is true for Kenneth Gravett, a former deputy with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, who now faces a charge of insurance fraud. Gravett, who was arrested previously on a similar charge, was arrested by an outside agency and processed through another county.

For over a year, the NGCETF, which is led by the FBI, has been investigating a criminal enterprise based in Polk County involved in the trafficking of stolen vehicles and altering vehicle identification numbers in order to resell stolen vehicles for large profits.
The criminal enterprise has also been aided by current and former law enforcement officials who have been arrested as well. These former law enforcement officers have participated in the criminal activities and reportedly have provided sensitive law enforcement information to individuals involved in the criminal enterprise.
The investigation culminated on Oct. 6, with the execution of numerous search warrants and arrest warrants issued by the Polk County Superior Court and through the United States District Court, Northern District of Georgia.
The investigation is ongoing with additional arrests and charges possible.
Note: Additional photos will be posted as they become available.
The printed version of the Rockmart Journal periodically publishes a list of people who have been arrested, what they were charged with, and if they're still in jail, out on bond, etc. At least one in every group has been "released at the request of ____ Police Dept". Does that mean somebody at that dept is calling in a favor? Or they changed their mind about whatever the person was arrested for? I just don't understand why a PD would request someone be released.
In all the departments they have new chiefs/sheriff and they have started to cleanup and bring a new respect to law enforcement to polk county. Please remeber that it is only a few officers/deputy that have been charge. For the most part our men and women in law enforement in polk county are outstanding people .
The next time you meet and officer take time to thank him/her for doing a great job. Also remeber that to bring change to any organzation it takes time.Have faith in our law enforcement in time we will be proud of our county
Thanks
