A new salon has recently opened in Cedartown, and owner and stylist Colleetoe Sanders is more than excited to be a new business owner in the city.

Colleetoe’s Salon, located behind the McDonalds at 126 Fairmount Ave., Cedartown, has been open three weeks and offers a unique experience for locals looking to spruce up. The business offers a full range of salon and spa services, including massages, facials, manicures, pedicures, waxing, and the latest in styles, color, and hair cuts.

According to Sanders, the salon is open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. until….well, until they quit having a great time.

“We’re here to make each individual look and feel handsome and beautiful,” she said. “I have a great set of girls and we have a great time.”

The salon has several specialists, including cut and color specialist Whitney Kizziah, chemical expert Dolores Donaldson, stylist Jill Shelley, massage therapist Susan Florey, and stylist LaTasha King.

Sanders has been in the cosmetology field for nearly 16 years, beginning her career at The Burke Academy of Cosmic Art in North Carolina. After moving to Cedartown, she attended the Cedartown School of Cosmetology.

Sanders has also traveled to Texas to learn about interdermal cosmetics, New York to study aesthetics with the elite Repechage Inc., and Atlanta several times to learn more about the latest in cuts, styles, and color with celebrity stylists and make-up artists.

“Along my career path I have been blessed to have mentors that have taught me so much,” she said. “ This experience is what has brought me to where I am today.”

Owning a salon has always been a dream for Sanders, and seeing that dream come true has been a truly rewarding experience, she said.

The unique experience of Colletoe’s begins with refreshments and conversation, centers on a friendly, casual atmosphere, and ends with a great experience and great haircut.

“At our salon, ‘It’s a Family Affair’,” said Sanders. “We strive to make everyone, no matter who they are, feel as though they are the most important client that we have—man, woman, or child.”

Colleetoe’s Salon focuses on the use of all-natural products, like Tocco Magico, an all-natural Italian based color, and Stript make-up, which is also all-natural and has been featured on television shows like Bones and Dancing with the Stars.

Sanders also addressed the best thing about running a new salon and the challenges that she faces as a business owner in a small town.

“The instant gratification of making our clients looks and fell good about themselves is great,” she said. “The first step has really been the biggest challenge, but I love that no two days are the same.”

The salon will be hosting an Open House on Dec. 5 between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., and welcomes customers old and new to stop by for refreshments and special singing.
