Sorrells said an older man from Alabama sustained cuts and possible a broken leg. The female driver of another car didn't have visible injuries but was slipping in and out of consciousness, Sorrells said.
Sorrells said the woman was in her Nissan Xterra stopped at the light headed west when the Alabama man rear-ended her.
The collision caused her to travel almost a quarter of a mile with her car going in and out of the median before it finally stopped, Sorrells said.
The man slid after that collision and sideswiped a van also headed west. No one in the van reported any injuries, according to police.
No further information is available until an investigation is completed.
The second wreck occurred at 3:18 p.m., while police were working the first crash. That crash occurred on Goodyear Avenue in from of Meggitt.
Sorrells said no injuries were reported in that collision.
Previously reported: Two wrecks in the same area occurring around the same time in Rockmart have all law enforcement on site, according to officials.
Officials confirmed what police identify as a two-car wreck occurring Monday afternoon in front of Walmart on the Nathan Dean bypass. There are injuries reported, but the seriousness of injuries is unknown.
A second wreck is confirmed on Goodyear Avenue in front of the old Goodyear plant. It isn’t known if there are injuries in that crash.
The Rockmart Police Department is working the crashes with other agencies assisting as a part of mutual-aid agreements.
